=================================
Salix fragilis f. vitellina ‘Jaune de Falaise’
‘Jaune de Falaise’ is also known as Golden Willow and Yellow Barked Willow. This stunning variety originates from France, with its name derived from the French word for yellow and the town of Falaise in Normandy. Its attention-getting size and brilliant yellow stems are an impressive sight indeed. Its year round bright and rich color would be appreciated and useful in many garden and landscaping settings. Like all willow bushes, it offers protective nesting habitat for wildlife. Once established, it is vigorous and broad grower that coppices well to produce straight and flexible rods 6-10’ long each season.
Dried rod color: Yellow to Deep Red
================
Uses:
Great winter color in the garden and used in floral arrangements
Great for living structures and making furniture
Great for creating hedges or fedges
When grown as a tree it can reach 20’
On our farm, we created two ‘Juane de Falaise’ entrance hedges to our greenhouse, showcasing its color and beauty in full glory. The movement from the wind flowing in these tall rods is magical to watch and walk through. Another benefit of planting in mass is willow’s scent. I find it especially calming. When grown as a tree, it can reach over 20’.
